Truckee student taps ‘Tahoe Trail Bar’ to accomplish mission

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — In brown paper bags decorated with the words “Never give up, be strong, I believe in you, Project B” Truckee-based student Todd Lemma, Jr. is tackling a mission and his homework.

A seventh-grade student at Forest Charter School in Truckee, Lemma’s recent assignment was to participate in a form of community service and report on his experience. After approaching several organizations, Lemma decided to create his own, called “Project B,” and compile care packages for those less fortunate in his community.

Lemma has gathered dental supplies from Tyson Lechner, DDS and Brian Peirce, DDS; health and wellness supplies from Tahoe Supply and Truckee Surgery Center; and nutrient-rich food from Tahoe Trail Bar and Truckee Sourdough to add to the mix.

“We are honored to participate in this endeavor,” said Wes King, owner of Tahoe Trail Bar. “It reminds us that there is always help to be given in the community. We applaud Todd for his initiative, and are inspired by his giving spirit, and his desire to share the abundance of this world with those less fortunate this season.”

“Todd is very thankful for the generosity he has received for his project,” said Monica Roloff, Lemma’s mother. “He is amazed that so many people in the Truckee area are such strong supporters in his mission to help make a difference.”

Tahoe Trail Bar has been fueling the journey for people who enjoy the outdoors in the Lake Tahoe Basin for more than a decade. It began in small batches at a South Lake Tahoe coffee shop. Tahoe Trail Bars are vegan and gluten-free.
