Truckee’s Project Graduation tickets on sale for safe/sober night
Truckee High School’s Project Graduation Committee is kicking off annual fundraising efforts in partnership with Charlie and Nancy Riley of the Truckee SEARS Hometown Store.
Charlie, a continuous supporter of Project Grad, has donated a Samsung 50-inch LED H5203 Series Smart TV for the group’s annual fall raffle.
Only 500 tickets will be sold, at $10 each, and plans are to randomly draw the winner at the first varsity home basketball game of the season, Dec. 12 at Truckee High School.
You need not be present to win; tickets can be purchased from senior parents/students and at Sears Hometown Store, The Rock Garden, Snow Tech, Images Salon, or by emailing thsprojgrad2015@gmail.com.
Project Graduation provides Truckee High graduating seniors with a safe, sober and supervised graduation experience. The event is a drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free all-evening party for the entire class, with entertainment and dinner.
During the 23-year history of the program, not one student has been injured or killed. The cost is offset by fundraisers throughout the school year, with future fundraisers to include the Senior Fashion Show on May 18, 2015, restaurant fundraisers and more.
With the private donation of a high value raffle prize, each year’s Project Graduation Committee is able to apply the nearly $5,000 in ticket sales directly to the evening event.
