Election forums start today with Truckee Town Council candidates

Sun Staff Reports

Forums introducing local candidates on the Nov. 4 ballot start today with two opportunities for residents.

Today, from 6-8 p.m., Truckee Town Council candidates will take the stage at Truckee Town Hall in a free event open to the public. There are five candidates vying for the two seats open: Jamie Brimer, Joan de Ryk Jones, Jeremiah Levi Frank, and incumbents Barbara Green and Josh Susman. The term of office is four years.

The event, sponsored by a number of area groups, will also be televised on Channel 24 and streamed onto http://www.ttctv.org. The candidates will not only answer live audience questions, but also answer questions e-mailed to the Sierra Sun in advance.

Candidate opening statements will also be available to view on the Sierra Sun’s website after the forum.

Send questions to Ryan Slabaugh, Sierra Sun Executive Editor, at rslabaugh@sierrasun.com. Please put “Candidate Forum Question” in the subject line.

Voters will also have a chance to meet candidates at the Senior Center today.

Those interested in attending can meet the candidates from 1-2 p.m., but are also welcome for lunch and socializing starting at 11:30 a.m.. Details, call (530) 550-7600.
