Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner cleans up 20 bags worth of garbage from I-80

Seven Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner members and spouses recently picked up about 20 bags of garbage from the summer season on Highway 80 from the Overland to near Central Truckee exits.
Items found include $12.75 in cash, lots of bottles, a tray full of cigarette butts, a queen of spades playing card, plastic bags, beer cans, and many more items accidentally or deliberately dropped from cars and trucks.
“It’s such a pleasure to see this section of Highway 80 clear of trash. I always feel so good that we can help keep our community clean,” Soroptimist Sue Sage said. “It would be great for other clubs to participate in the ‘Adopt a Highway’ program. We have fun working with friends; we could keep the whole area pristine.”
The Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner holds monthly club meetings on the second Thursday of each month at noon at Zano’s Restaurant, 11401 Donner Pass Rd., in Truckee. All women are invited to join us as a guest by emailing us at info@sitd.info.
