Fall weather is on the way

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Sunny and mild weather will return for one more day today before things begin to change towards more fall-like weather. Unlike the past several days, we should not see much in the way of afternoon cloudiness today and skies will be generally sunny except for perhaps some haze and smoke.

High temperatures today will warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s with mid 80s around Markleeville and Woodfords.

Winds will pick up a little today from the west or southwest in the 10 to 20 mph range with some higher gusts possible.

Clear skies tonight with light winds returning will allow low temperatures to fall into the mid 30s to mid 40s depending on location. While it no longer appears that we will see any precipitation later this week, it will be turning windy and cooler by tomorrow so more pine needle raking will be taking place and unfortunately, extreme fire danger, too.

As of now, a fire weather watch has been issued for Thursday by the National Weather Service in Reno for strong winds and low humidity. Please see http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/reno for more information on fire weather conditions.
