‘Fanfare Ciocarlia’ legends of gypsy brass performance next week
As part of its onSTAGE Season, the local nonprofit Arts For the Schools is bringing the legends of gypsy brass to the local stage.
All the way from rural Romania, the crew with “Fanfare Ciocarlia” learned their craft at the feet of their fathers and grandfathers and proudly approach every concert as a challenge to both entertain audiences and keep the true spirit of gypsy music alive.
Along the way, Fanfare has been celebrated by critics and championed in all kinds of media: For one, they were commissioned by Sacha Baron Cohen to cut “Born To Be Wild” for the “Borat” soundtrack.
Put simply: Nobody does it better, harder, faster or funkier than Fanfare Ciocarlia. Visit fanfare-ciocarlia.com to learn more.
The performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Truckee Community Arts Center at 10046 Church St.
Tickets are available at artsfortheschools.org/events, New Moon Natural Foods and at the door while they last.
Also, join the crew and the band for the after-party at Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats in downtown Truckee. Visit artsfortheschools.org to learn more.
