Father allegedly abducted 3-year-old daughter, stole boat

SALINAS, Calif. (AP) ” A Sacramento area father allegedly abducted his 3-year-old daughter and stole a sailboat, which was destroyed by heavy surf on a Marina beach.

The child wasn’t hurt.

Adom Fetter is in a Monterey County jail pending arraignment for child abduction, child endangerment and reckless operation of a water craft. Prosecutors say he could also face a boat theft charge.

The 35-year-old defendant set sail from Alameda with his daughter Sunday and headed for Santa Cruz. Investigators say he tried to turn the 35-foot boat around but got caught in heavy surf a few hundred yards off shore.

Fetter was arrested initially on felony charges out of Nevada County for allegedly violating terms of a restraining order regarding the girl.
