Mostly cloudy conditions and a few showers or thunderstorms will be around today, although the best chances will remain over areas to our south and east such as Topaz Lake and Markleeville.

Having said that however there is still a flash flood watch for the entire Eastern Sierra from Truckee/Tahoe southward to Mammoth Lakes this afternoon and evening mainly for the burn areas as all areas could see some heavy rainfall this afternoon.

High temperatures today should rise into the 70s to near 80 with the abundant cloud cover with overnight lows tonight dropping to the 50s. Winds will be fairly light this morning but shift to the southwest by mid afternoon in the 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts possible.

Just exactly when the winds shift to the southwest will determine the coverage of thunderstorms over the basin as if the winds do not shift until later in the afternoon that will allow the thunderstorms to become more widespread and a greater risk of heavy rains.
