Folsom moves ahead in school board election

Thanks to two precincts in El Dorado County, Area 2 school board candidate Monty Folsom has pulled ahead of incumbent Daniel Collin in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District trustee race.Until this week, Collin was leading by a slim margin of 13 votes in the three-county district. Now, with El Dorado County’s final, albeit uncertified, ballot count, Folsom is ahead by 39 votes, according to the latest results, which include Placer and Nevada counties. The results will not be finalized until the beginning of December; Placer and Nevada counties still have absentee and provisional ballots to count, and all results must be certified by the California Secretary of State. The Area 2 trustee will represent the Prosser, Hirschdale and Glenshire vicinity in Truckee.Kristy Olk will replace outgoing trustee Karen Van Epps in the Area 3 seat, which represents the taxpayers from the state line on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe to Dollar Hill. The new trustees will be sworn onto the school board in December.
