Forest Service workshop tonight

The U.S. Forest Service will hold a public workshop tonight to take public input on the future of forest lands in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit forest plan provides overall direction for more than 80 percent of the land in the basin and is 20 years old. Several areas of the plan require updating to reflect current conditions and policies, new science and changing technologies, according to a statement from the Forest Service.

The workshop is from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Emerald Bay Room at the Forest Supervisor’s Office, 35 College Drive, South Lake Tahoe. Light refreshments will be served.
