Free dental screenings for area youths
TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; The Family Resource Center of Truckee will be hosting an event on Saturday, Aug. 27, offering free dental screenings and cleanings to children aged 6-13 without dental insurance. Local dental hygienist Natalie Brindos and three dental hygienists from the Bay Area will be at the Family Resource Center performing this important service for those who are without dental coverage.
Recognizing the need for free preventative services in order to avoid more costly corrective dental work down the road, Ms. Brindos approached the Family Resource Center as a partner for this event. Currently, 23 percent of children receiving services at the FRC do not have medical or dental insurance. This event will not only provide free screenings and cleanings, it will teach children and parents about the importance of dental hygiene and regular dental visits. This event fits in with the FRCand#8217;s mission of promoting preventative care and health education.
The free dental cleanings will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Resource Center of Truckee, at 11695 Donner Pass Road. To make an appointment for your child, please call 530-587-2513.
