Free ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ event for female cancer patients in Tahoe-Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Ladies who have cancer are invited to a free “Look Good, Feel Better” event taking place Monday, March 9.

This American Cancer Society-sponsored program offers ladies who are undergoing cancer treatments, a free session to learn to cope with appearance-related side effects and regain a sense of self-confidence and control over their lives, according to a news release.

Monday’s session is from noon to 2 p.m. at the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center at 10956 Donner Pass Road in Truckee.

Pre-registration for patients is required by calling the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345.

“Look Good, Feel Better” is offered in a group sessions, which provide education, information and support. Volunteer cosmetologists or estheticians (all certified and trained professionals) teach women how to enhance their appearance using complimentary cosmetics and skin care products.

The free cosmetic kits are available in light, medium and dark, to enhance all complexion types. Patients also learn how to disguise hair loss by using wigs, turbans, scarves and various accessories, according to the event.

The program is presented in collaboration with the American Cancer Society, Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the Professional Beauty Association.
