Free vaccines for under-insured children set for May 20, 27

Special to the Bonanza

As we eagerly welcome summer and the end of this school year, it may be a good idea to make sure our kids are ready to return to school in the fall.

The Washoe County School District requires all students entering the seventh grade to be vaccinated with Tdap. This is a tetanus/pertussis vaccine that is given as a booster to children at least 11 years of age.

All students in the WCSD must have three Hepatitis B vaccines and two Hepatitis A vaccines.

This month, Dr. Emily Smith will be offering free VFC (Vaccine for Children) clinics for children that have no insurance and those who are under-insured.

The clinics will be held May 20 and May 27, from 1-3:30 p.m. at her office at 889 Alder Ave., No. 205, Incline Village. Appointments are recommended, but Dr. Smith will accept drop-ins.

You must bring the child’s vaccination record with you. Please call 775-833-9000 to schedule your child and get them ready for a carefree summer of fun, knowing that they are ready for the next school year.
