Funds may be available to victims of storm damage

Residents whose home, business, or other property was damaged in the storms over the New Year’s holiday weekend may be eligible for financial assistance.

The Nevada County Office of Emergency Services is gathering statistical information to assess damages sustained to private property during the recent winter storms. To assist in these efforts, residents and business owners who have suffered storm damage are encouraged to contact the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services at 273-2238.

They will be asked for the following information:

– Damaged property address

– Type and extent of damage

– Insurance coverage

– Estimated cost of repair

This information will be used if the federal government declares California a federal emergency. If a federal emergency is declared, those who sustained damages could be eligible for financial assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
