Gas leak clears out TRPA office

A gas leak Tuesday afternoon forced the evacuation of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency building in Stateline.

At about 3:05 p.m., an odor – thought to be from a natural gas leak – was detected at the TRPA administration building on Market Street.

A decision was made to evacuate the building of all employees and visitors. About 50 people were affected, said Dennis Oliver, a spokesman for the agency.

Tahoe Douglas firefighters responded and checked the building with air-monitoring equipment, and it was deemed safe to allow employees to enter at about 3:25 p.m., Oliver said.
