Gas prices soar above $5 a gallon in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Drivers were likely feeling the pinch at the pump in Truckee Thursday morning, with some area gas stations charging as much as $4.99 a gallon for regular gas and $5.15 or more for premium.

Neighboring communities, such as Kings Beach, Tahoe City, Incline Village and Reno saw lower prices, with some showing as much as a $1.10 difference.

Reno had some of the lowest prices in the region, with regular costing anywhere from $3.89 to $4.59 a gallon, with premium between $4.09 to $4.83 as of noon Thursday, according to http://www.nevadagasprices.com. Incline Village stations were charging anywhere from $4.26 to $4.51 for a gallon of regular, and $4.46 to $4.67 for premium.

Back on the California side, Kings Beach and Tahoe City gas stations were charging drivers $4.69 a gallon for regular and $4.89 for premium as of noon Thursday, according to http://www.californiagasprices.com.

Farther outside the North Shore, Grass Valley, Calif., stations were charging drivers anywhere from $4.03 to $4.39 for regular and $4.33 to $4.59 a gallon for premium, where as Carson City, Nev., was charging $3.84 to $4.19 and $4.04 to $4.43, respectively.

The state average this week is $4.176 for regular and $4.38 for premium, according to the California’s Energy Almanac.
