Gaskell ousted from Prosser Creek Charter School

Prosser Creek Executive Director Jayna Gaskell has been terminated from the charter school.

Last week the Prosser Creek Advisory Council voted to remove Gaskell from the school’s payroll and hand her responsibilities to Program Director Cindy Gaschler and Business Director Jody Retzloff.

“We spent about three months evaluating this, and the governance council decided that this would be the best decision for Prosser Creek,” said Chris Handel, advisory council member.

Handel said he didn’t feel it was appropriate to comment further on the reasons for Gaskell’s termination.

Prosser Creek staff, administrators and families have been notified about Gaskell’s dismissal, Handel said.

“There’s a tremendous amount of support,” he said. “The board has also been more involved because of the changes.”

During the formation of Prosser Creek in 1998, Gaskell had an integral role in getting the school signed on with the school district. During that time, she owned Education Avenues, an educational consulting business she created in fall 1997. She was the director of admissions and academics at Squaw Valley Academy before creating Educational Avenues.
