Grand Jury: Presidential election went well

Sun Staff Report

NEVADA COUNTY “-The Nevada County Grand Jury reported no major issues in the November general election.

The Grand Jury decided to conduct an investigation into the election in August of 2008, because of the complexity of conducting the election with almost 300 volunteers in 50 polling places using over 20 separate ballots, according to a press release from Nevada County.

The jury looked at pre-election training, conducted interviews, observed polling, and debriefed volunteers and county staff after the election, according to the release, and reported the election ran smoothly.

The jury did recommend that the board of supervisors authorize additional funding for poll worker training, according to the release.
