Green, Susman likely to take council seats

With approximately 500 additional absentee votes added to totals in the Truckee Town Council race, little has changed from the election night results. It appears that Barbara Green will unseat Ron Florian and Josh Susman will return to the council for a third term.Green picked up the most absentee votes, adding 412, while Susman picked up 381 and Florian 380. With an additional 1,000 provisional and overseas ballots from across the county still to be counted, Green’s lead is almost insurmountable and the chances that Florian could pick up the 54 votes to catch Susman have slimmed. After ineligible provisional ballots are eliminated and the votes that apply to the town council race are identified, there will likely be fewer than 100 ballots left to be added to the council contest, Susman said, relying on information he had heard from the Truckee town clerk.Florian has indicated that he would not ask for a manual recount of ballots even if Susman’s lead over him shrinks.”The expectation is that there is almost no likelihood that the outcome will change,” Susman said. “I am fairly confident right now that it is Barbara Green and I.”But Susman said that he is saving any celebration until the official results are available after the Nov. 30 deadline. The day after the election Florian said that he was not anticipating much of a change in the outcome of the race.”For all intents and purposes, the voters have spoken,” Florian said.
