Greyhound agent hits the road; Office closure affects baggage, freight shipments

JOHN A. BAYLESS

Although the local Greyhound agent left Truckee last week, his departure should cause few problems for passengers hoping to board a bus in Truckee.

However, different arrangements must be made for freight or baggage pickup, which has been temporarily moved to the Reno office.

“The station agent has decided to seek greener pastures,” Truckee town manager Steve Wright said. “He closed up the office on Monday and left. Greyhound is looking for a new agent or for some alternative means to provide service.”

Greyhound Sacramento representative Paul Branson said the bus will continue to stop in Truckee, at the same posted schedule.

Baggage and freight pickup will be handled through the Reno office at (702)322-5621.

Passengers will not need tickets to board, and may pay the attendant at the time of boarding or pay at the destination.

Anyone who wants information on the Greyhound schedule and rates should call (800)231-2222.
