Halter, Dale Edward

Dale Edward Halter “DH” was born March 3, 1951 in Freeport, Calif. to Eddie and Jeanette Halter. He passed away suddenly Sept. 13, at the age of 55.

Dale came to Tahoe in 1971 and worked as a ski patrolman at Homewood Mountain Resort and in the construction industry. Between 1974 and 1984, Dale worked with local youth as a coach for the Tahoe City Buddy Werner Program and leading youth backpacking and rock climbing trips.

His passions were softball, golf, skiing, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Halter-Coambs of Tahoe City and his beloved black Lab, Bird Dog.

Dale was gentle, kind, loving and generous and will be sorely missed by his host of friends.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be held Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Tahoe City Golf Course. The DH Memorial Golf Tournament will begin at noon. The pot luck gathering will begin at 3 p.m. Donations for final expenses can be made to the Dale Halter Memorial Fund at the Bank of America in Tahoe City or mailed to P.O. Box 7125, Tahoe City, CA 96145.
