Harrah’s Reno lays off general manager, others

The Associated Press

RENO, Nev. ” Harrah’s Reno is eliminating its general manager’s post and laying off several other salaried workers.

A spokesman for the privately held company says Liza Cartlidge’s last day as general manager at the downtown Reno property is Friday.

Her duties will be filled by casino operations director Tim Tretton.

Other lost positions include a VIP coordinator, a planning analysis coordinator, a superintendent and two managers.

The company says those duties will be regionalized among properties in Reno and Lake Tahoe.

In a memo Wednesday to the Reno property’s 1,200 employees, regional President John Koster said the reductions are needed to weather the ongoing recession, which has taken a heavy toll on the casino industry.
