Curves, Truckee, celebrates the success of Valerie Forsyth, winner of the winter Biggest Loser Curves contest. Twenty-two women participated in this event that began Jan. 15 and ended with weigh-in and measurement on March 14. Valerie lost ore than 14 percent of her original weight, 25 inches and more than 19 body fat pounds to take all three prize categories and win the entire $550 pot.Valerie says she feels fantastic and thanks Katherine Randall (Curves owner) and Curves for motivating her. Christine White, Denise Slominski and Carol Tomasic were all finalists and provided Valerie with stiff competition. All the women who participated reported greater motivation and having lots of fun. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA), in partnership with the American Red Cross, will be offering a CPR/First Aid certification course Saturday, March 28. The course will begin at 9 a.m. in the D.W.R. nonprofit building, Incline Village. The course is open to the public. Additionally, the TRTA would like to recruit volunteers and CPR/First Aid certification is required for all guides, hike and crew leaders and ambassadors.The cost is $45 which includes instruction, a one year certification and educational materials. Couples massage now offered at Sierra College. Learn a few easy but effective massage techniques in a fun, hands-on class, suitable for a variety of couples. Both partners will give and receive massage. Class lecture is minimum and emphasis on techniques and communication will allow you to use your new skills immediately.
