The Town of Truckee Police Department responded to a suspect with a firearm in the Glenshire area on Wednesday afternoon.

Truckee Police officers and neighboring law enforcement were on scene at Briar Circle and the surrounding areas last night, according to the department, after responding to a report of a man with a firearm. Police later reported the suspect  had barricaded themselves within a residence after making suicidal statements.

Truckee Police and allied agencies were at the scene for roughly six hours, according to Dan Olsen, support services manager for the Truckee Police Department, before announcing they had cleared the scene. The shelter in place order was then lifted, and Dorchester Drive and Briar Circle were reopened.

“We’re actively working the case right now,” said Olsen. “As updates become available, we’ll throw them out on (Nixle.com). We may have something by mid-afternoon today. It just depends on how things come together.”
