Highway 20 re-opened after accident
Sun News Service
Highway 20 at White Cloud Campground has been re-opened and traffic is flowing slowly as emergency personnel tend to a single-vehicle injury accident in heavy snow conditions.
Highway 20 links Interstate 80 and Nevada City.
At 10:27 a.m., a caller reported a pickup with a camper shell went over an embankment and crashed into a tree in the area.
An ambulance, the fire department, CHP units and a tow truck were all dispatched to the scene.
The roadway was blocked in both directions as emergency personnel tended to a driver with injuries. The highway was re-opened at 11:13 a.m, according to CHP officer Jeff Pingree.
Officers were still waiting for a tow truck to arrive to the accident scene at 11:55 a.m.
There is heavy snow in the area, Pingree said, while traffic is not severely congested.
“People seem to be staying off the roads and out of the snow,” he said.
Information about the accident will be updated as it is received.
