Hit-and-run driver accused of sexual assault

While investigating last week’s fatal hit-and-run collision that killed 18-year-old Truckee resident Keith Stewart, Truckee Police detectives learned of another unrelated allegation against the 18-year-old driver, Scott Lindner.

In the new case, Lindner, of Ross, Calif., was accused of sexual assault of a minor, according to the Truckee Police Department. The incident occurred at Truckee River Regional Park on an undisclosed date prior to the hit-and-run.

A separate investigation was launched and a warrant for Lindner’s arrest was issued, resulting in his arrest on Tuesday.

Lindner was booked a the Nevada County Jail on the warrant and is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bail, according to Truckee Police Lt. Randy Fenn. Lindner is being charged with assault to commit a felony sex offense, false imprisonment, attempted oral copulation, intimidation of a victim, battery and annoying or molesting a child under 18, according to Truckee Police.

Both the hit-and-run and the sexual assault cases are still being investigated and it is unclear at this time whether the incidents are connected, police said.
