Hit-and-run suspect in court today

The 18-year-old Ross, Calif., man accused in the Aug. 16 hit-and-run death of Truckee resident Keith Stewart will be arraigned on suspicion of charges of attempted sexual assault today in Nevada County Superior Court in Truckee.

Scott Lindner will have the opportunity to enter a guilty, innocent or no-contest plea to charges, including assault to commit a felony sex offense, false imprisonment, attempted oral copulation, intimidation of a victim, battery, and annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18.

The alleged victims have been identified as a 17-year-old Truckee girl and the other a 13-year-old girl.

A preliminary hearing took place on Sept. 1 at Nevada County Superior Court in Truckee. The 17-year-old girl testified at the hearing that she believed Lindner would have raped her had she not fled his Chevrolet Tahoe on the night of Aug. 12. After listening to testimonies, Judge Anders Holmer ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Lindner to be arraigned.

The hit-and-run death case is on hold pending toxicology report results.
