Homewood housing decision rescheduled

Plans to build nine lakefront homes on Tahoe’s West Shore will not be decided by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency board at their Sept. 27 meeting, as previously scheduled.

The owner of the Villas at Harborside and the planning agency have pulled the item from the Sept. 27 agenda until contentious issues can be worked out, said Jeff Cowen, community liaison with the TRPA.

The project proposes nine, 1,800-square-foot fractional ownership homes across the street from Homewood Mountain Resort. Each owner would have use of the unit for 13 weeks out of the year.

“We are working with the applicant and the community to resolve outstanding issues so that everyone’s concerns are addressed,” Cowen said in a statement.

The planning agency and the property owner hope to complete a property survey and look into the project’s compliance with past permits before the project comes up for a decision before the planning agency’s board.

A new date for the Villas at Harborside hearing has not been scheduled.
