NEVADA CITY “-After serving eight years as District 2 Nevada County supervisor, Sue Horne will go to work for State Assemblyman Jim Nielsen in January.
Horne’s term as county supervisor ends at noon Jan. 5, when her successor Ed Scofield is sworn into office.
Nielsen, first elected senator in 1978, was elected in November to represent the nine rural counties, in Northeastern California that make up the state’s 2nd Assembly District. He replaces Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa.
“I met Jim through the campaign process,” said Horne, who ran and lost to Dan Logue for the 3rd Assembly District seat.
Horne will work as a representative for Nielsen in the nine counties, meeting with county supervisors, farm bureau officials and fire safe councils.
“I’m excited for a new challenge. I have some familiarity with those counties,” said Horne, speaking of her involvement with the Regional Council of Rural Counties. “I know many of those supervisors.”
