‘Importance of Being Earnest’ production begins Friday in Truckee
The Truckee High School Drama Club will present its fall play, Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People,” this weekend and next.
Carrie Haines, who earned her BFA in Theatre Arts at USC, is directing. She has directed dozens of plays for renowned theater companies in the Bay Area; has been nominated for a Circle Critics Award for Best Director; and teaches acting at InnerRhythms Dance Center.
This season, the THS Drama Club will put on a full play, rather than the usual conglomeration of monologues and scenes.
“It promises to be as funny and entertaining as director Carrie Haines’ first production with THS Drama Club,” according to a news release.
All performances will take place at the Truckee High School Theater, 11725 Donner Pass Road.
Show times are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3 and 9-10; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 Doors open one hour before show times.
Tickets can be purchased at the THS library or Truckee Community Center, or at the door, for $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for seniors (65+).
There will also be a raffle and concessions at the show. The Truckee High School Drama Club is funded by donations only.
