Incline location added for Saturday’s RX drug roundup
An Incline location has been added to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Prescription Drug Roundup scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.
The drop-off location will be at Incline Village Community Hospital, located at 880 Alder Way.
WCSO and IVCH are among several partners working with Join Together Northern Nevada to give residents an opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
In addition to the Incline Village location, drop-off points are locaed at several locations in Reno and Sparks.
According to WCSO, unused or expired prescription drugs in their original containers; over-the-counter pills; prescription liquids; and pet medications will be accepted.
“This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse,” officials said. “Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends.”
The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked.
