Incline Village Blood Drive set for Oct. 16

Special to the Bonanza

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — A transfusion of human blood is an old-fashioned but extremely effective treatment in serious operations and trauma.

Accidents happen! There is no good substitute for human blood. It’s up to us!

Twenty hospitals in Northern Nevada and in Truckee rely on donations of blood from volunteers like you. United Blood Services needs about 125 donations every day to meet the increasing demand.

“Blood donations are essential for hospital patients and other critically ill people in our community needing a blood transfusion to sustain life,” said Steve Jenkins, Donor Recruitment Representative for United Blood Services, the sole supplier of these 20 hospitals. “Today is a great time to make your decision to donate a pint of blood.”

The Incline Village Recreation Center at 980 Incline Way is hosting a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Along with the gift of helping others (and maybe someday, you), this year, donors in October will be entered in a raffle to win a $500 gift certificate.

And as always, Raley’s is providing breakfast goodies, Mofo’s will provide pizza at lunch time, and there will be homemade cookies in the afternoon.

Walk-ins are welcome (bring a photo ID), but even better, make an appointment by calling Cherry Barney at 775-832-5058.

Appointments can also be made at http://www.BloodHero.com using the code: “INCLINEREC”.
