Internet hackers breach payment system website of Resort at Squaw Creek’s management company

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. andamp;#8212; Internet hackers recently breached the payment systems for Destination Hotels andamp; Resorts, which runs the Resort at Squaw Creek, among 30 other hotels across the nation, according to an IDG News Service article.In the article, published on http://www.computerworld.com, guests who recently stayed at 21 of the companyandamp;#8217;s 30 hotels that range from the Olympic Valley resort to hotels in Vail, Colo., and Maui, Hawaii, may have been exposed to the scheme.According to the article, the company refused to release details on the incident, citing an ongoing investigation by the FBI.The company reported the problem on its website, http://www.destinationhotels.com, on June 24, stating andamp;#8220;it uncovered a malicious software program inserted into its credit card processing system from a remote source. With the help of outside security consultants, the software breach has been corrected and normal secure credit card processing procedures quickly resumed.andamp;#8221;The statement goes on to say: andamp;#8220;The breach appears to have been isolated to locations where credit cards were physically swiped. Internet, phone and other transactions appear not to have been compromised.andamp;#8221;The company is advising guests to contact their credit card companies, according to the statement.
