Jeep strands on ski slope: driver arrested for DUI at Northstar resort
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Late Monday night on Dec. 16, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from Truckee were called to an unusual scene—a Jeep stranded on a ski slope at Northstar Resort.
The call came in at 11:54 p.m. after Northstar groomers discovered the white Jeep on the Vista slope and alerted authorities. With assistance from the resort crew and a snowcat, officers reached the vehicle to investigate the situation.

“The thing that baffles us is how the driver got up there so far,” Officer Carlos Perez said. “This is the first one for us. The driver almost made it to the chairs.”
Officers observed signs of intoxication in the driver, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
CHP expressed relief that the incident didn’t result in injuries. “We just encourage everyone to be safe and not drink and drive,” Perez said.
