Jesse Williams blood drive; Tahoe Forest Medical Building site of July 25 event

There will be a bone marrow drive to benefit Jesse Williams and other potential recipients on Friday, July 25, at the new Tahoe Forest Medical Building from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The fee to join the national registry has been lowered from $47.50 to $23.75 per registrant thanks to the help of matching grant funds. Monetary donations will be used to sign up potential bone marrow donors.

As more money is donated, the cost of registering donors will be lowered.

If a donor is unavailable to make the drive on July 25, blood work and testing can be done by the Sacramento Blood Bank every Tuesday at the Tahoe Forest Hospital.

If testing is done at the hospital, the lab technician should be informed that bone marrow is what is to be donated and that the fees should be charged to Jesse Williams’ account. An appointment is recommended and can be made by calling 1-800-995-4420, extension 493.

If a donors would like to donate from outside the Truckee area, they can call the 1-800 number or send contributions payable to the Center for Blood Research to Hugh Williams, P.O. Box 2047, Truckee, CA 96160.

For information, call 587-2275.
