Joan Voigt Shaeffer

Joan Voigt Shaeffer, 86, loving wife of 64 years to Robert Hazen Shaeffer of Mission Viejo, Calif., passed away at her home quietly during the night of July 9.

She was the loving mother to Sandra Sue Ichinose of Pearl City, Hawaii, wife of Roy M. Ichinose and Hazen Walter Shaeffer of Truckee, husband of Nancy C. Shaeffer. She left behind five grandchildren, Jonah, Wade, and Ryan Ichinose and Jarret and Jennifer Shaeffer.

Joan was born in Atchison, Kansas and graduated from Atchison (Kan.) High School in 1937 and University of Kansas in 1941. She married Robert H. Shaeffer on June 21, 1941. She spent her years as a dedicated wife and mother. She was an accomplished seamstress, golfer and bridge player.

Robert and Joan spent their summers at Lake Ida, Minn., for more than 35 years enjoying the deep friendships formed over the years. She will be missed by her family and held in their hearts.

Private services were held at O’Connor Mortuary on July 15 in Laguna Hills, Calif.
