Job, expense cuts on school district agenda

TRUCKEE/ TAHOE ” Expenses and jobs within the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District are some of the items board trustees will have the option to cut at a 5:30 p.m. Wednesday meeting.

The special board workshop is scheduled to take place at Kings Beach Elementary.

Trustees will have the option to vote on two resolutions, one aimed at reducing positions in the district’s classified employee pool, a group which includes janitorial staff, some secretaries and some classroom aides. The resolution aims to reduce the workforce by 10.33 full time equivalent positions, totalling a savings of about $479,000 if approved.

The other resolution is aimed at cutting out-of-classroom expenses and increasing some district revenues, such as dining costs.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting and district staff will take scheduled time to offer information on last week’s board decision regarding parent-pay transportation, under which all TTUSD parents will be charged for bussing.

A briefing on the district’s projected $4 million budget deficit entering next year is also on the Wednesday agenda.
