Turning Point Tahoe is hosting a slide show Sept. 24 and 26, about “Turning Point on Lake Tahoe” the circumnavigation of Lake Tahoe by Hillary Humphreys and Candace Cable in kayaks from Aug. 15 to Aug. 21, 2008. The mission of the kayak event is to raise awareness and funds for needed equipment for three youths in the Truckee community. A networking table will be available for attendees of the slide show.

Turning Point Tahoe is a non-profit organization that creates outdoor recreation and environmental education for people with disabilities in the Truckee/Tahoe area. The mission is to network with existing resources, groups and programs to connect people with disabilities to information, equipment, activities and programs. When a gap exists Turning Point Tahoe closes the gap by creating needed services, pulling the support circle together and raising the quality standard in our lives. Turning Point Tahoe does not duplicate services or charge a fee for services.

Turning Point Tahoe’s outdoor activities include camping, fishing, boating, hiking and cross country skiing. The educational programs are a public school possibilities kit that was developed locally, motivational speaking and outreach with guidance and equipment for individuals and family members dealing with new and existing disability.
