Keene, Gary Christopher

Gary “Copter” Keene, 53, passed away Dec. 6 in Walnut Creek from complications due to primary pulmonary hypertension. He was born in Oakland on July 18, 1951 and raised in Piedmont where he graduated from Piedmont High School in 1969. He attended University of Nevada, Reno. He spent most of his life in Reno where he was a real estate appraiser and Realtor.Gary was one of the pioneers of the World Professional Freestyle Skiing Circuit, where he competed in the moguls, aerials and ballet. He also spent much of his time playing golf, tennis, fishing, hiking, and girl watching at the beach.Gary is survived by his father, Ellsworth Keene; stepmother, Frances Keene; sister, Gail Baker and her children Chris and Lindsay; two stepbrothers, John and Michael Robertson and their families; and stepsister, Marilyn Raysor and her family. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Keene.Gary’s family wishes to express to all of Gary’s friends their thanks for all the joy they brought into his life. A celebration of life will be held in Lake Tahoe in the spring of 2005.
