Kings Beach crash victim identified

KINGS BEACH ” A Tahoma woman died Sunday night after she was hit by a car while in a crosswalk on Highway 28 in Kings Beach.

At approximately 7 p.m. Linda Marie Fernandez, 56, and a 35-year-old man, also of Tahoma, were walking across the Fox Street crosswalk toward Lake Tahoe. Both of them were struck by a 1999 Honda Accord driven by a 25-year-old Sacramento man, according to the CHP.

The names of the injured man and driver have not been released by the CHP.



Both of the pedestrians were transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital, where the woman died of her injuries. The man remains in the hospital with major injuries, according to the CHP.

Investigators said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, and no arrests have been made.




Fernandez worked at the Tahoma Market.

The CHP has asked for the public’s help in contacting witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the collision. Call 582-7570 with any information.
