Knecht runs for senate

GRASS VALLEY- Nevada County Supervisor Karen Knecht today announced her candidacy for the 1st State Senate District. Knecht, a two-term County Supervisor and small businesswoman, declared that she “provides real-world experience in local government and business that no other candidate can offer.”

“Counties are supposed to be an arm of the state, but instead they’re more like slaves of the state. The State Legislature has been robbing us of local control and local independence by imposing unfunded mandates and raiding our money. The best decisions are those that are made at the local level, closest to the people they impact,” stated Knecht.

“I believe people are tired of politics that is based only on personal ambition. I am running because of the issues-improving our schools, strengthening public safety, protecting our district’s farms and small businesses, and dealing with infrastructure needs and congestion.”

“I am a common-sense conservative who has always focused on the issues that matter to people. That is why I have decided to seek the 1st Senate District. The people of Northern California deserve representatives who care more about them than they do about their own ambition and ego,” Knecht concluded.
