TRUCKEE, Calif. — As part of its onSTAGE season, Truckee nonprofit Arts For The Schools is bringing the ultra-unique Multiplex Dance Company to the local stage this weekend.
Multiplex is known for their highly athletic and acrobatic movement style and edgy, cyberpunk aesthetics, which has made them highly unique and known around the country.
Founded in 2013, Multiplex is the brainchild of Choreographer, Assistant Professor of Dance at UC Irvine, and former member of Diavolo Dance Theater, Chad Michael Hall.
Based in Los Angeles, Hall has been choreographing original dance works since 2006, and with Multiplex, he his joined by seven dancers committed to creating and performing original dance works in his unique brand of Techno-Industrial Modern Dance.
Hall’s obsessions with computer technology, electronic music and science fiction drive him to create dances that integrate live dancing with digital media.
“This show will like nothing that has come to Truckee before,” said Hannah Behmaram, Administrative Assistant/Events Coordinator for Arts For The Schools. “For dance, science fiction and technology lovers alike, this is sure to be great show.”
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 seniors/students and $5 for kids and are available at artsfortheschools.org/events, at New Moon Natural Foods and at the door while they last!
Arts For the Schools provides arts education to PreK-12 students. Its Performing Arts program provides access to professional, unique performing artists in workshops, assemblies and field trips for schools from Incline Village to Truckee.
The Visual Arts Artist in Residence program offers 12-32 weeks of professional visual arts instruction that meets State of CA visual arts content standards for various students. Each year, Arts For The Schools onSTAGE series presents acclaimed performing artists in music, dance, theater and other progressive art forms in regional venues.
