INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Chocolate candy. Chocolate desserts. There are few foods that can evoke the pleasurable response that chocolate has on the mind and body.

Let’s face it, one of the most pleasant effects of eating chocolate is the “good feeling” we get when indulging. People are simply passionate about their chocolate.

If you are a lover of all things chocolate, then get your ticket to the chocolate event of the year, the 27th annual Tahoe Chocolate & Wine Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7.

You will be able to sample decadent chocolate creations from Tahoe’s top chefs, including those at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Jake’s on the Lake, Mr. Z’s Homemade Candies, Small Batch Toffee, and The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. These culinary artists will compete for four awards, including People’s Choice.

Jake’s on The Lake was a favorite last year, taking home several awards including People’s Choice. This year, Executive Chef Scott Yorkie is serving an oat and cocoa cooking sandwich stuffed with Cabernet blackberry jelee topped with semisweet chocolate ganache.

“We have participated in this event for many years. It feels great to help others in need and to know that money raised at the Festival will specifically help community members in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee,” said Yorkie.

And what’s more decadent then pairing great wine with your chocolate? Most of the wine served at the festival can be purchased at Village Market and includes Jackson Family Wines, J.Lohr Vineyards, McManis Family Wines, Darcie Kent Vineyards, La Marca Prosecco, and Atelie Moscato d’Asti.

To further sweeten the evening, guests will have a chance to bid on items in a live auction, enjoy an exclusive raffle, and contribute to a 1:1 match offered by Linda and Richard Offerdahl.

This year, the theme is Life is a Caber{n}et, and guests will immerse themselves in cabaret fun while showing their support for a violence-free culture.

The festival is a fundraiser for Tahoe SAFE Alliance, which is celebrating 30 years as a Lake Tahoe nonprofit that has successfully provided services to nearly 20,000 community members.

Services include the Mt. Rose Safe House, a community helpline, victim support services, legal advocacy, a comprehensive children’s program, and violence prevention education programs.
