Lake Tahoe man to be arraigned on charges of lewd conduct with a child

HOMEWOOD, Calif. and#8212; A Lake Tahoe man will be arraigned Tuesday in Auburn on charges of lewd conduct with a child, a Placer County Sheriffand#8217;s Office official said Monday.

Jon Thomas Conyers, 50, of Homewood, was arrested Friday in Tahoe City and booked in Placer County Jail in Auburn on two charges of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under the age of 14, said PCSO Public Information Officer Jeffrey Ausnow. Conyersand#8217; bail is set at $500,000. He will be arraigned in Placer County court in Auburn at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Ausnow said.

Ausnow would not divulge details of the case, calling them and#8220;highly inappropriate,and#8221; adding that disclosure of details could lead to future identification of the alleged victims.

Investigators said the alleged illicit activity was ongoing for about a year, Ausnow said. The case was brought to the attention of law enforcement after parents of the alleged victims alerted officers, Ausnow said.

Ausnow said Conyers was and#8220;a long-time resident of Lake Tahoe.and#8221;

Ausnow said there was and#8220;no chanceand#8221; that other children in the community were subjected to similar acts.

Furthermore, Conyers did not personally know the alleged victims, Ausnow said. Conyers did not work in a capacity that allowed access to children under the age of 14, Ausnow said.
