Lake Tahoe weather: Chain, snow tire restrictions along all major Truckee/Tahoe highways

TRUCKEE/TAHOE. and#8212; Driving conditions continue to be very dangerous Monday morning, with blowing snow and whiteout conditions possible as a strong Sierra storm enters its fourth day.

Chain and snow tire restrictions are in effect along all major highways; the Mt. Rose Highway was closed to motorists for some time on Sunday; it is open as of 7 a.m. Monday.

The storm, which began Friday morning, is expected to continue throughout Monday, as a winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. As much as 6 to 12 feet of snow could be on the ground by the end of day Monday to cap the four-day storm.
