Lake Tahoe weather: Mild temps to return this week

LAKE TAHOE ” Despite last weekend’s light snowstorm, it appears sunny skies and mild temperatures will be back for the immediate future for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

The National Weather Service in Reno has forecast a 40 percent chance of snow for Monday. However, starting Wednesday, temperatures are anticipated to climb back to the mid-40s, with mostly clear and sunny skies.

This weekend’s snowstorm did bring back some snow to higher elevation areas in the basin. Diamond Peak this morning reported 7 new inches of snow the past two days, and 14 inches since Friday. It’s new snow depths are at 28 inches (base; 6,700 feet) and 50 inches (peak; 8,500 feet), respectively.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 43. North wind around 5 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 45.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 49.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47.
