Lake Tahoe weather: Snow could return this weekend

Winter weather should return to Lake Tahoe this weekend after several days of near-record high temperatures.

Weather systems will be moving into the basin beginning tonight, with the larger one reaching the area on Saturday, bringing snow with it, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Snow levels on Saturday should be between 6,500 to 7,000 feet. The weather service, however, has not issued any advisories related to Saturday’s system.

Meanwhile, today, Thursday, should remain mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers this afternoon. Highs today will be between 55 to 65 with light winds.

On Friday, expect partly cloudy skies, with a high between 52 to 62, with the front of the weather system moving in by night-time.It will be windy ahead of the system. Winds will be from the southwest 15 to 30 mph, with ridge gusts of up to 70 mph.
