Lake Tahoe Winter Games Exploratory Committee unveils new board members

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. and#8212; The Lake Tahoe Winter Games Exploratory Committee on Wednesday announced additional members of its Board of Directors.

Members of the board, upon having its inaugural meeting last Friday at Lake Tahoe, unanimously supported the organization turn its attention to the next available (when the U.S. Olympics Committee decides to bid) Winter Olympic games, according to a press release, while also focusing efforts on attracting world-class sporting events to the region in preparation for a potential bid.

and#8220;We are very proud to have such an esteemed group of Californians and Nevadans coming together to create a truly bi-state effort here in our region,and#8221; said Andy Wirth, chair of the board and CEO of Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski resorts, in a statement. and#8220;Our region and#8212; from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe to Reno and#8212; has the right combination of venues and physical splendor to make it one the world’s great destinations for Winter sports and this committee is dedicating itself to that ideal.and#8221;



According to the press release, the committee will make a series of announcements in the coming weeks about its goals, its dedication to the region’s glorious physical environment and its commitment to working with all the local communities in the area and additional board members.
