Incline Village resident and entrepreneur Grand Master Mark Shuey Sr., owner and operator of Cane Masters/North Lake Tahoe Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido, recently returned from the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Branson, Mo., where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and received the Golden Eagle Award.

He has been on the cover of the April 2015 issue of Martial Science Magazine, and featured in the June/July 2015 issue of Black Belt Magazine.

Shuey Sr. is the founder of the American Cane System — the first full-hand ranked system using the crooked cane; and Cane-Fu, an exercise and protection system for seniors. He also designs handcrafted American Hardwood canes for use as personal medical devices.

He is returning to teaching, taking over the Tae Kwon Do/Hapkido classes his son, Master Mark Shuey Jr., previously instructed in Incline Village. He is adding classes that will include: Cane Instruction for Wellness and Protection; Safety for Real Estate Agents; and Women’s Personal Security.

For information, visit or call 775-832-6560. Shuey’s dojo is located at 288 Village Blvd.
