Lake wind advisory in effect for Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE ” A wind advisory for Lake Tahoe is in effect through 8 tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Winds will be from southwest to west increasing to 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 to 40 mph in the afternoon.

Wave heights may increase to 2 to 4 feet by afternoon, with the highest waves on the east and northeast shore.



Small boats may be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve, according to the weather service.

With breezy conditions expect partly cloudy skies today with highs 69 to 79. Tonight will be breezy with lows 31 to 41.



On Wednesday, expect partly cloudy skies, with highs 67 to 77 with winds from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph. Lows Wednesday will be from 36 to 46.

For Thursday expect partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 68 to 78.

Friday through Memorial Day should be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 68 to 78. Lows 34 to 44.
